Rubik Racing's #18 Swept Laughlin and Clinched the 2WD Title
Two races, two wins, and a season title for the #18.
Updated October 19, 2026
The sun was dropping behind the Laughlin podium when the champagne went up, two race suits standing on the roof of the blue #18 and the sky going orange behind them.
By Monday morning the season was settled, and the #18 had settled it.
Nic Whetstone's Rubik Racing truck won Saturday's race in Unlimited Truck 2WD in 58:29 for five laps, three minutes clear of Tracy Poole's #78. Sunday it went back out and did it again, 58:31, with the #78 another 2:11 back. Laughlin goes to the best combined time over both races, and the #18 finished ten laps in 1:57:00, 5:11 ahead of the #78. Steve Olliges's #27T was third.
That sweep locked up the Unlimited Truck 2WD season title for Whetstone. Poole and Olliges came into the final round second and third in the standings and finished the weekend in those same spots.
Both days the #18 ran five laps in under an hour. It was the only truck to break two hours over ten laps, and every 4WD truck finished the weekend behind it.
Over in 4WD, one point separated the top two coming in. Tracy Graf's #58 finished more than five minutes ahead of Robby Gordon's #5 and took both the class title and the overall Unlimited title for the season.
Two races, two wins, one championship, and a long drive home that won't feel long at all.
Where on the Laughlin course did you see the #18 make its time?
