THE DUST

Both Bajas. Class 10.

Lobsam Yee’s 2005 SCORE Class 10 Baja double — Baja 500 Class 10 in 10:11:18 (Yee/Barajas) and Baja 1000 Class 10 in 17:15:05 (Yee/Yee/Barajas) in a Jimco-Honda.

2005. Tecate SCORE season. Tijuana’s Lobsam Yee is not in a Trophy Truck and he is not in unlimited Class 1. He is in SCORE Class 10 — limited open-wheel, limited motor, the kind of car that still has to earn every mile the old way.

June first. Baja 500. About four hundred nineteen peninsula miles out of Ensenada. Yee and Angel Barajas bring a Jimco-Honda home in ten hours, eleven minutes, eighteen seconds and take Class 10. Hard on that stopwatch. Soft on whatever garage poetry got attached to the horsepower later — the official finishers sheet is the part that sticks.

November. Thirty-eighth Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Ensenada loop. Press sheets put the course a little over seven hundred eight miles — call it seven-oh-nine if your memory rounds. Same program. Same Jimco-Honda language. This time brother Eli Yee is in the cab with Lobsam and Angel Barajas, and Class 10 comes home in seventeen hours, fifteen minutes, five seconds. Off-Road.com’s official finishers sheet does not hedge the names, the machine, or the time: Lobsam Yee / Eli Yee / Angel Barajas, Jimco-Honda, Class 10, 17:15:05. Hard on that line. Soft on mph press figures that bounce a tenth either way — prefer the elapsed time.

That is the spine. Same season. Both big SCORE Bajas. Class 10 both times.

Soft on calling it a full-season Class 10 championship unless you are staring at SCORE’s own points PDF — race wraps talk about a tight scrap with John Cooley and Travis Brookshire into the thousand, and the garage will argue points math forever. Hard on the two dated class wins sitting on the official sheets. Soft on engine-builder folklore — Major Performance Honda power shows up in the period wrap; treat it as color, not a dyno certificate.

Here is why that season still matters when the feed only frames the newest light bar and the unlimited trucks.

Class 10 is the limited motor. It is not the headline class most people screenshot. And still a Tijuana Jimco-Honda team took the Baja 500 class and the Baja 1000 class in the same calendar year — 10:11:18 and 17:15:05 — without needing Trophy Truck money to make the story true.

If your Baja timeline only starts when the unlimited trucks already own everything, fair enough. Just remember the Class 10 that did both ends of the SCORE year the limited way — Jimco-Honda, Tijuana, brothers in the thousand, Class 10 twice.
